Jeff Moriarty Haverhill MA Obituary, Death: It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we come together to honor and remember the life of Jeffrey M. Moriarty, who passed away on March 2, 2025, at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, Massachusetts, at the age of 61. Jeffrey was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jeffrey was born on November 22, 1963, to his proud parents, Frederick and Patricia (Kohlweiss) Moriarty. He was the second of four Moriarty boys, raised in the Bradford section of Haverhill, where he spent his formative years. The love for the great outdoors was instilled in him early on, and he developed a deep passion for skiing and motorcycle trail riding. As a young man, he explored the then-rural areas of Bradford, creating memories that would last a lifetime and shaping him into the adventurous spirit that everyone knew and loved.
Jeffrey graduated from Haverhill High School in 1981, and after a brief period of reflection, he joined the United States Air Force, where he became a skilled jet mechanic. During his service, he was stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire, as well as in Korea and Florida. His time in Korea was especially significant, as he earned an incentive flight after identifying a critical issue with the landing gear of an aircraft just before takeoff, preventing a potential disaster. This act of vigilance and care was one of many instances in his life where Jeffrey demonstrated his commitment to those around him, always looking out for the safety and well-being of others.
Upon completing his military service, Jeffrey returned to Haverhill, where he pursued several careers that allowed him to continue serving his community. He tended bar, worked for the Sheriff’s Department, and eventually became a member of the Haverhill Fire Department, where he proudly served for 20 years. His dedication to public service was unwavering, and his work as a firefighter was a testament to his bravery, selflessness, and commitment to helping others. Whether he was responding to a fire or offering a listening ear to a colleague, Jeffrey’s presence was a source of comfort and reassurance to all who worked alongside him.
In his later years, Jeffrey found a new career path as a fuel truck driver for Irving Oil, where he continued to be a dependable and hard-working individual, known for his reliability and dedication. His family and friends will remember him as someone who was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was for a neighbor, a friend, or a stranger in need. Jeffrey’s generosity, kindness, and strong sense of duty were evident in every aspect of his life.
Throughout his life, Jeffrey’s greatest pride and joy were his family. He married his first wife, Ann (Capeles) Moriarty, and together they raised two beautiful children, Chelsea and Michael. Later in life, Jeffrey married Joyce (MacLean) Moriarty, and welcomed her two daughters into his family with open arms. Jeffrey never hesitated to embrace those he loved as his own, making it clear that family was everything to him. His love for his children, stepchildren, and grandchildren was immeasurable, and he found joy in supporting and encouraging them in everything they did.
Jeffrey’s family meant the world to him. He was a devoted father to Chelsea and Michael, and a proud stepfather to Stephanie and Jessica. His love and dedication to his children and grandchildren were a reflection of his selfless nature. He had a unique way of making each person feel special and loved, offering his wisdom, guidance, and unconditional support. His role as a grandfather brought him immeasurable happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Andrew, Alivia, Julian, Joshy, Jackson, Jacob, Natalie, and Rocco.
As a brother, Jeffrey shared a deep bond with his siblings. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick M. Moriarty, and his brother, Kevin P. Moriarty, both of whom he loved dearly. Though the loss of his loved ones was difficult, Jeffrey always remained strong for those around him, finding ways to keep their memories alive and share stories of their lives. He is survived by his mother, Patricia A. Moriarty, his two brothers, Chief Brian Moriarty and his wife Kimberley, and Dennis and his wife Nikki. The bond between the Moriarty brothers was one of a lifetime, forged through shared experiences, love, and mutual respect.
Jeffrey’s ability to make everyone feel welcome, heard, and valued was one of his many qualities. He was known for his positive outlook on life and his natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether it was a neighbor, a colleague, or a lifelong friend, Jeffrey’s presence was a source of comfort, joy, and laughter. He was a kind, gentle soul with an infectious smile and a heart that overflowed with love.
